Foundation Stage 2
Welcome to our Foundation Stage 2 Page!
We’re so excited to welcome you into class 2 in September! I know that you’ll love it at Monkwood and we’re going to have lots of fun learning new things and making new friends. We are so proud of all the beautiful areas in our classroom and know that you’ll love it just as much as we do.
We cant wait to see you become artists in our creative area, builders in our construction area, use your amazing imagination in our role play area and cuddle up with a lovely book in our reading area. You will also make so many new friends to create more magical memories with. We are one big family in Foundation and we are always kind to our friends; we know you will fit in just great.

I can’t wait to get started and help you become even bigger superstars as you learn and grow with us. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my two children, my family and my friends, who are all a big part of my life.

Class 2 Teaching Assistant
Hello everyone. My name is Miss Davies.
At home, I have a gorgeous Golden Labrador called Nelly. We love to go on long walks and adventures together through the woods. We like to hunt for the best stick we can find for a game of throw and catch! I love anything sparkly, so get ready for lots of shimmering fun in my class. One of my favourite stories to read is ‘The King of Tiny Things’ by Jeanne Willis, so maybe in September, we could go on our own Fairy Hunt. I can’t wait to start our magical journey together in September, we are going to have so much fun!
Class 3 Teacher
I love anything to do with arts and crafts and you will often find me in our Creative Area. I love painting and also sharing my skills to help you to become an amazing artist. At home, I love long walks in the countryside and coming home to read a fabulous book. I also love football, supporting the mighty Manchester United. I love to watch them play on a weekend and cheer them on! I am so excited to start your Monkwood journey with you.

Our New Learning
Our first topic will be called ‘Who lives in the woods?’ We will be reading lots of beautiful storybooks including ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ ‘The Gruffalo’ ‘Percy the Park Keeper’ and many others. We will be going out for lots of Woodland adventures and taking part in lots of wonderful activities such as building a Gruffalo den, a hut for Percy, searching for different wildlife and creating our own bug hotel.
We will be developing our paint mixing skills and `taking our paintbrush for a walk` using natural colours such as green and brown.
We will be hands-on making bird feeders to hang in our woodland area, helping our environment and wildlife.
Children can bring a water bottle with their name on that they take home daily to be washed. It will be really helpful if all school uniform, PE kits and even shoes could be labelled with their name. PE day is on a Wednesday but it’s best to leave PE kit on their peg all week and then it won’t be forgotten.
In our class, we love going on lots of adventures whatever the weather! We ask that if you have an old pair of wellies which you don’t mind leaving at school this would be great. We also ask that you always bring a waterproof jacket to school for our outdoor ventures!
Now you are in Foundation 2, our bear friend Buttercup will be giving you special jobs to do at school and at home. At school, she will help you learn lots of new things. At home, you can record your learning and activities in her special magical spellbook. At special times we bake at school and follow different recipes to make delicious buns and biscuits.
