Meet your Teachers

Class 8

I am very excited to be your teacher this year and can’t wait to spend year 3 with you. Outside of school, I love spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy going out for meals and having day trips out, especially in the sunshine!

Before I became a teacher I was a dance and musical theatre teacher and a fitness instructor. I have always had a passion for dancing, fitness, acting and singing and love to include these into our lessons! I can’t wait for a fun-filled year!

Some of you will have seen me around school, as I am also a Lunchtime Supervisor and work in breakfast club. I’ve worked at Monkwood for ten years and I love every minute that I spend in school.

Outside of school, I have 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and I love spending time with them. We like to spend our days in the sunshine having family BBQs. I also have lots of pets and love having furry snuggles! I can’t wait to meet you and start working with you.

Class 9

I’m thrilled that you’re joining our class this year and can’t wait to get to know you all but first, how about I give you a little about me. Growing up, I always wanted to be a performer. As you might know already, I love to sing and play the piano (something that I hope I can still do with you all). I’m now proud to say that I am a primary school teacher here and looking forward to seeing all your bright and smiling faces in September. You have done so well throughout this unfamiliar and scary time both pupils and parents alike and Monkwood is ready with open arms to welcome you all back!

Hello everyone. I know some of you will have seen me around school, in the classroom or as one of the Lunchtime Supervisors, dancing terribly on the yard!

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends as well as creating artwork, listening to music and spending time in the great outdoors.

It’s time to start our learning journey together and can’t wait to meet all of the new Class 9 superstars. Let the adventure begin!

Our New Learning

This year we have lots of amazing topics to get us excited about our learning! In September, we will be starting off with mighty metals, learning all about the world of metal, the steel city and becoming engineers to make our very own metal objects! This will be followed by the topics: Scrumdiddlyumptious, Romans, Terrible Tremors, Going Green and finally finishing with Vikings.

We will cover lots of different genres in our English work and will use lots of fantastic books to help us along the way. In Maths, we will be covering lots of different things including place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, money, statistics, measurement, fractions, time and shape. We will also have regular lessons on History, Geography, Science, Art, Design Technology, PE, Spanish, RE, PSHE, Computing and Music.

Class Information

The school day starts at 8:45 am and the school day ends at 3:20 pm. Our PE days are Wednesday (indoors) and Thursday (outdoors), however, we recommend that your child has their PE kit in school all week, just in case we manage to sneak an extra session in! Please make sure you have planners, reading books, spellings and water bottles in school every day.

Homework will consist of spellings, reading and timetable practice using TT-Rockstars. Our school target is to aim for all children to read at least three times a week and to practice their spellings and times tables as often as possible. Please help your child to do this as all of these things are highly important and play a large role in helping your child to learn and progress. Spellings will be checked and tested regularly. Please record any of this in the school planner and planners will be checked on a Monday for the previous week. We also ask children to create projects for their homework on a half termly basis, giving you the opportunity to be creative and to promote a love of learning.
