Welcome to our Year 6 Page!
This year your children are in Class 15 and Class 16 taught by Mrs Grafton, Mrs Dannatt, Mrs Lloyd and Mrs Davison. The TA in class 15 is Miss Owens and Mrs Webb in Class 16.
We have dived straight into our new topic (‘A Child’s War’ all about life in WW2) with an amazing blitz morning where the children came back from break time to a bombed classroom. The air raid siren was on full blast and bombs could be heard in the distance. The children embraced this with great passion, diving for cover and safety. We even had to bandage injuries sustained!
The children have also immersed themselves into our class read ‘Put out the Light’ by Terry Deary and are excited that it is set in Sheffield so close to home.
PE – Our PE days are Monday (indoor) and Thursday (outdoor). Please ensure that children have both an indoor and an outdoor PE kit which includes suitable footwear and warm outdoor clothes for winter. We recommend that your child has their PE kit in school all week.
Homework – Each Wednesday your child will bring home spellings to learn for a test the following week. They will need to use TT Rock Stars to practice their times tables. We expect them to read at least three times per week and for it to be recorded and signed by an adult in their planners. Each week they will also receive a piece of maths and a piece of English homework.
Water bottles – we recommend that your child brings a bottle of fresh water to school on a daily basis as they are often thirsty and need to keep hydrated.
Trips – On Wednesday 16th October Year 6 will be attending Crucial Crew for the full day. This is a funded trip to teach them about life skills and safety.
