F1 – Fantastic start to the new term

What a fantastic first few weeks we have had in Foundation 1! Your children have blown us away with their independence and their kind and caring attitudes. We are so excited for the year ahead of us.

From September our topic will be ‘Can you sing me a song?’ We will start off our topic with the rhyme ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’, exploring the texture of wool and using marks to create sheep patterns and sheep pictures. Over the term we will be also learning the rhymes ‘Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star’, ‘Incy Wincy Spider’, ‘The Wheels on the Bus’, ‘5 Currant Buns’, ‘Hey Diddle, Diddle’ and ‘Down in the Jungle’!

We will be exploring through play with a themed small world area. There will be costumes and masks within our roleplay area so children can act out the rhymes they have learnt. We will be getting creative and mixing lots of media together to develop our fine motor skills. Outdoors we will use the stage to sing and put actions to our rhymes. We will be developing lots of social skills in communication-friendly spaces and work as a team during our play.

We will join in listening and attention games daily and read stories to develop our love of reading. We will count and explore numbers in the most exciting activities, especially when outside in the natural world.

Here are a few photos of our learning journey so far.
