Attendance

Attendance

Regular attendance is of the highest importance at Monkwood Primary School. It is directly linked to pupil achievement.

Whilst we would like all children to have 100% attendance, we realise that this is not always possible.

Our Target Attendance is 96%

To be in time for school, your child must be in class for the start of the first session. Doors will open at 8.45am and sessions times are:

  • Early Years Foundation Stage – Morning session 8.45am to 11.45am. Afternoon session 12.15pm to 3.15pm
  • Key Stage 1 – Morning session 9.00am to 12.00pm. Afternoon session 1.00pm to 3.15pm
  • Key Stage 2 – Morning session 9.00am to 12.15pm. Afternoon session 1.15pm to 3.20pm

Our attendance policy can be found on the policies page.

Absence

If your child is absent from School due to illness, please telephone the school on the first morning of the absence. We will contact you by phone on the first day in the event of no reason being provided, a follow-up text message will be sent.

If we do not get a response from you regarding an absence, this will be marked as unauthorised and logged against your child’s attendance record.

If your child has an appointment at the Dentist/Doctors and this is during school time, please inform the class teacher and office the day prior to the appointment. If this is a morning appointment, please state whether they will be returning for lunch. You will need to show proof of the appointment.
