Year One

Class 4 are loving our topic Enchanted Woodland so far! Recently we have been working on the book 'The Stick Man'. We have been busy painting the Stick Man, creating Stick Man atelier and creating our own Stick Men!
Last week we continued our science work about recognising the parts of a flower. We carefully took apart a rose and looked carefully at a lilly, discussing what all the different parts do.
Class 5 had an amazing time at Pops climbing through the wooden dragon in the woods and making leaf print clay art!
Our new academic year has got off to a fabulous start as we venture into the woods to kick off our Enchanted Woodland topic. We have been busy making clay boggarts, writing recounts and working on our growth mindset.
Well done to the new Year 1’s that have just moved up from Foundation Stage. They have been busy bees learning all about the books ‘Monkey Puzzle’ and ‘The monkey with the bright blue bottom’.
Today was a fantastic (but toasty hot) sports day for key stage 1 and foundation stage children. All the children were amazing and tried super hard. Massive congratulations to the winners. 3rd place yellow sweetcorn 2nd place green pears 1st place yellow lemons
The year 1 children presented an amazing Rio carnival to the rest of school and to mums and dads. The costumes were amazing! The dancing was spectacular!
Class 4 have loved unicorn week this week! On Monday, we found a pink unicorn in the school woods and decided to name her Bluebell Rainbow! We promised to look after her and keep her warm. We even created our own unicorn friends using pastels and glitter! Look at our beautiful artwork!
This week we have been busy making our masks ready for the Rio carnival! We have been on a magical coach trip to Rio to see the sights. We saw the statue of Christ the Redeemer and Copacabana Beach!
Last week class 5 had an amazing time in the woods with Pops outdoor adventure. We collected lots of sticks and created a feathery image, spray painted over it and then used a stencil of the statue of Christ the Redeemer from Rio. We got super muddy but had lots of fun!
