Risks to Children Online
Please see the link below to very recent research from the NSPCC and the National Crime Agency regarding the risks to children from online grooming and other associated concerns.
The National Crime Agency (NCA) and National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) have released figures from a recent week which show that operations across the UK: safeguarded 245 children and arrested 192 people, 18 of whom were in a position of trust; and 30% of cases involved some of the highest harm offences including live streaming, blackmail and grooming. The NCA and NPCC have launched a campaign – Who is Sam? – to encourage parents to talk to their child about the behaviours that could put them at risk on live streaming platforms. The campaign features a short animation showing how offenders are able to build relationships with young people online.
