Miss Hayes
Meet your teacher
Miss hayes
Hello! My name is Miss Hayes, and I’m so excited to be your child’s teacher this year. I’ve been part of the Monkwood family for 14 years, and I’ve loved every step of my journey here.
Teaching in the Early Years is truly my passion. I feel incredibly lucky to be part of such a special stage in a child’s life, helping to give them the best possible start to their school journey.
At home, I have two beautiful children and a wonderful fiancé, and we love spending quality time together; especially going on adventures and holidaying in the Lake District. When I get a quiet moment to myself, you’ll usually find me drawing or sketching, as art is one of my favourite ways to relax.
I can’t wait to welcome your amazing children into our class family. It’s going to be a fantastic year!
MEET YOUR Early Years Practitioners

Mrs Woods
Hello I’m Mrs Woods and I’ve been a part of the Monkwood Primary School family for over 25 years, and for the past 17 of those, I’ve had the absolute pleasure of working in Nursery. I truly love what I do, helping our youngest children learn, grow, and discover the world around them is something I find incredibly rewarding.
At home, I’m a proud mum of two wonderful children, and when I’m not in the classroom, there’s nothing I enjoy more than travelling the world with them and my husband, making precious memories as a family.
Class Information
In Class 1 we are going to have the best time together exploring, learning and having fun. We have the most beautiful classroom and outdoor areas that are waiting for you to discover and explore. We are so excited to be sharing in your very first experience of school and just know we are going to have lots of fun together. This year we will learn about numbers and words through stories, songs and rhymes. We know you will make many new friends, playing together in our lovely classroom and outside area. We even have our own woodland space where we will be exploring nature and looking for creatures big and small! Don’t forget your wellies! We can’t wait to spend the next year learning and growing with you.
Areas of Learning
We will be able to send photos of your adventures over the year through our Class Dojo and your grown up will be able to share your adventures at home too! Our classroom is a wonderful place to be, with so many areas to play and learn in alongside your friends. There are some amazing adults to help you and we all love to share stories with you.
