Hello, everyone! My name is Miss Metcalfe, and I am so excited to be your teacher in September! I have been a teacher at Monkwood for 6 years now. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I absolutely love reading stories. We are going to read so many magical books together, full of exciting adventures and amazing characters. One of my favourite books in Year 2 is Farmer Duck. I also enjoy teaching art and I can’t wait to see all the wonderful, colourful creations you’ll make. When I’m not at school, I love spending time with my family. I also enjoy watching football. I can’t wait to get to know you all better. We are going to have the best year together, I just know it. See you soon!

Hello everyone! My name is Mrs Ellis and I am going to be your new class teacher in September. I am looking forward to meeting you all. I hope you like animals because we have stick insects in our class. I love animals and have lots of pets at home. I have 2 dogs. 3 cats and a rabbit so I am always busy looking after them. I also love to go on holiday and read books. I like to walk my dogs in Rosehill Park so you may have seem me with them. I love music and love to sing. You might sometimes see me in the hall playing the piano or singing with Mr Howlett-Wright. It won’t be long until you join class 7 and are in Year 2. See you all soon!

Hello everyone, my name is Mrs Carpenter and I have worked at Monkwood for many years. You will find me helping children on the Key Stage 1 corridor as well as on the playground at lunchtime. I have a grown up girl who also helps at school, and we love sharing stories when we get home.
Mrs driver
Hi boys and girls, I am Mrs Driver and I cannot wait to be part of your learning journey in Year 1! We are going to have so much fun! My favourite things to do are spending time with my three children, taking them on lots of fun adventures and making amazing memories. At school, I enjoy reading Julia Donaldson stories and doing art projects. I also love going into the school woods, if you look carefully you might even see the Gruffalo or Stickman!

Hello my name is Mrs Tipper, I have 2 boys and I love rugby and judo and camping, I’m so exited to meet you all and to get to know you, my favourite colour is yellow my favourite food is pizza.
Class Information
The school day starts at 8.45am and ends at 3.15pm. We read every week and practise spellings
so please make sure that your child has their reading book in school every day. We give out a
homework folder on a Friday so that you have the weekend to complete it and it does not need to
be handed in until the following Friday.
We introduce TTRockstars in the Autumn term and this will be your Maths homework to complete
online every week. Your children will need a water bottle in class every day, whatever the weather.
We will communicate with you through Class Dojo and let you know PE days at a later date.
Areas of Learning
In Year 2 we do lots of exciting and fun learning! In History we will be learning about castles, toys and the Great Fire of London. In Geography, we will be learning about farms, Australia and London.

Year 2 have been using compasses to find North, East, South and West in Geography.🧭

Year 2 have been learning to use charcoal in art by applying pressure to make lighter and darker textures and patterns.
