mrs dannatt
I started my job at Monkwood straight from university and I loved it so much that I stayed until now! I have taught in every key stage two year group many times and I am extremely excited to be your teacher in year six from September. It’s going to be the fabulous year! At home, I love to read and escape into the adventures of a good story. My favourite thing to do is laugh and laugh some more so let’s make it a fun and exciting year together.

I have been part of the Monkwood family for twenty-seven years and have probably taught some of your parents too! I have taught various year groups throughout school but have spent most of my time in Year 6. I am REALLY looking forward to being one of your teachers this year and getting to know you all. It’s going to be an amazing year! I can’t wait for all the fantastic learning which will take place, along with all the exciting experiences we have in store for you. When I’m not in school, I like to spend time with my family, especially my two children. My favourite thing is going on day trips with them and having lots of fun and amazing adventures.

Hello everyone, my name is Mrs Smith and I will be your class teacher in September. I can’t wait to join the team at Monkwood and meet you all!
My main job is to make sure you are happy, safe and learning when in school but I think it is also important that we get to know each other as well so here are a few fun facts about me. I love spending time with my husband Dan and my two girls. My favourite subjects are History and Reading. I love books and sharing them with everyone – hopefully we can go on lots of imaginative journeys together this year. I can’t wait to share your final year of school with you. It is an incredible year and I know we will work hard, have lots of fun and make some amazing memories together.

Hi everyone, my name is Miss Otowski and I have worked at Monkwood for a number of years now. I love supporting children with both their learning and behaviour and you will find me helping children both inside and outside the classrooms. I am here to support your learning and make sure your days are happy and successful.
Mrs Whitehead
Hi everyone, I’m Mrs Whitehead. I love spending time with my family; my husband Rob and daughter Lucy. I really enjoy baking and cooking, hopefully you’ll get a chance to sample some this year. I play cricket for Upper Haugh ladies team ‘Hotshots’ and enjoy doing lots of walking. I’m excited to learn new topics with you and take part in exciting new experiences. Let’s take the next step on our Monkwood adventure together.

My name is Miss Turner and I can’t wait to join Upper Key Stage 2. I love singing, dancing and acting and being outdoors in my spare time. You will see me helping out around the classroom and on the playground. I can’t wait to help you learn and succeed throughout your final 2 years in primary.
Ms Turton
Hi everyone, my name is Ms Turton and I love my role at Monkwood Primary. For the past few years, I have supported children in both KS1 and Lower Key Stage 2 but I am excited to work with the older children this year. I live locally and so you may see me out and about in Rawmarsh. If you do, make sure to say hello!
Class Information
Year 6 is a very special year and we’re already on the countdown for September. We can’t wait to welcome you all into our class for lots of learning and fun along the way. As well as school trips, there will be lots of other enrichment opportunities that we hope you’ll all enjoy and some might put you out of your comfort zone, but don’t worry because we’ll be there with you every step of the way.
Our class has a dojo account where we will regularly update you with information about learning, events and things that we are really proud of. Please ensure you check this regularly as we will also share information on school story.
Attendance is also really important. Please ensure that you arrive at school on time, every day and be ready to learn!

Areas of Learning
During your time in Year 6, we will study World War II, Miners and migration. In Geography sessions, we will look at coasts, economic migration and natural disasters. Finally, in Science, we cover a broad range of topics including the solar system, sound, living things and their habitats, forces and the human body. Our other subjects include PE, PSHE, RE, Spanish, computing, DT and art. If you have any questions about any subjects this year, please do not hesitate to ask.
