Meet your teacher

Hi everyone! My name is Miss Pape and I am so excited to be your Year 4 teacher starting from September.
I have been a teacher here at Monkwood now for 4 years, so I am super excited about sharing our new areas of learning with you all! Outside of my life as ‘Miss Pape’, I live with my best friend, and we love exploring new places, so I will definitely have some stories to tell you about our adventures in the summer! I love going to see live music, and festivals are my favourite way to spend my time. I adore all things history (this is probably why it’s my favourite subject to teach) and I am a big reader, who loves to share her love of reading with the little humans in her class.
I can’t wait to start our adventure in September! Have a great rest this summer, make lots of memories, and I will see you soon!
Class Information
We love to use Dojo to upload evidence of our time together, and this can be used by your grown ups to keep up to date with us. We have lots of amazing opportunities like trips, outdoor learning and DT opportunities, which your grown ups will hear about on Dojo. Miss Pape is huge fans of TT Rockstars, so getting used to this over the summer will be a big help for you! BoomReader is our special way of logging what you guys are reading at home, and how you are finding this. We ask that you arrive into Year 4 with a water bottle (please label this with your name).

Meet your teacher
miss Edmondson
My name is Mrs Edmondson and I am very excited to start your Year 4 journey with you. I have been a teacher at Monkwood for two and a half years and it has been great getting to know some of you already during this time. I have been a teacher for 18 years and truly believe that it is the best job in the world! My favourite subjects are English and Design and Technology. I absolutely love teaching Reading (which I am sure you have all gathered!) and I have some wonderful books lined up for us. In my spare time, my two daughters (Phoebe and Lucy) keep me very busy! We love nothing more than going on little adventures and exploring new places. I am slightly obsessed with Formula 1 and spend the majority of my weekends watching the fast cars race! I also enjoy cooking and I am yet to find a food I don’t like… though parsnips come close! Have a wonderful summer break and I shall see you all in September 🙂

Hello, my name is Miss Wright. I am so looking forward to helping you with your learning this year. My hobbies are crafts, sewing and any kind of creative activities. I have a son who goes to Rawmarsh Comp who is growing up way too fast. When I am not at school you will find me in my garden, sunbathing and relaxing when I can. I will do my best to help anybody so never be afraid to ask for my support.
Mrs Shikhova
Hello, my name is Olena Shikhova, but my students call me Miss Helen and I love it! I came from Ukraine and this is my second year at Monkwood Primary. I used to be an English teacher in Ukraine so it was easy for me to socialise here and surround myself with wonderful people. I’m into travelling, I have visited more than 10 countries and I find it fascinating as I can speak 4 languages. Believe me or not, learning languages is fun! If you want to learn other languages I will give you a helping hand in this adventure! Welcome on board, let’s make this year memorable!
miss Day
Hi there I am Miss Day, I have worked at Monkwood for the past 5 years; you will have seen me in Class 2 before and I will also be looking after you at dinner time in the dinner hall. I have three beautiful children who I love spending time with, especially when we go away camping. My family and I are big Rotherham United fans and I love taking my children to the games. If you have any questions please feel free to give me a shout and I can’t wait to meet you all.
Mrs Luty
Hi everyone, I am Mrs Luty; I will be your teaching assistant in September. I have worked at Monkwood for 15 years. I have 4 grown up children, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. My daughter and granddaughter work at Monkwood & 3 of my grandchildren attend. I have a dog called Marley and a parrot called Rose. I can’t wait for September to be part of your class. I know we will have loads of fun and we will be the best class.
Areas of Learning
We cover many interesting subjects in Year 4, including maths, writing and reading.
In history this year, we will be focusing on the Vikings, Anglo-Saxons and Egyptians. In Geography, we focus on the Peak District, the River Nile and the countries within the United Kingdom. Finally, in Science, we cover a broad range of topics including light, sound, food chains, forces, the digestive system and teeth.
Our other subjects include PSHE, RE, Spanish, GPS and art. If you have any questions about any subjects this year, please do not hesitate to ask!
