Science Career’s Month Visit

As part of our Science Career’s Month, we were very lucky to have  a scientist visit our school from Jessop’s Hospital, Sheffield.

Davina Hulme is a Senior Clinical Embryologist and has over 20 years experience in this field. In an assembly, she spoke to children in Y1-Y6 about her love of Science from a very young age and how that continued into GCSE, A-Level, Degree and Masters Degree. She followed her passion for Science which lead her to her current career. Davina showed our children photographs of the laboratory where she
worked and explained some of the equipment she uses.

Davina also spoke about there being over 50 other healthcare Science careers within the NHS that people often do not know about. Children were encouraged to follow their dreams if they would like to become a scientist and the pathways into STEM career.

The assembly ended with questions and answers with our Y5/6 children who were thoroughly engrossed in discussing Science careers.
