Year 6 British Science Week

Last week, the children at Monkwood took part in the British Science Week with this year’s theme being ‘Time.’

In Year 6, we completed an activity called Active Adaptations. We looked at the moth story; a true story of how the black and white moths evolved during the industrial revolution. We went into the school woodland area and each child had a template of a moth.

Their task was to find a habitat for their moth and colour it so that it would be camouflaged. The teachers were the predators who had to find the moths. Any found would have been eaten (not by the teachers!).
