Today, Year 6 were joined by Debbie from The National Holocaust Museum for a powerful and thought-provoking workshop.
The children learned about the journey of Leo, a 10-year-old Jewish boy living in Germany during Hitler’s rule. Through Leo’s story, they discovered how he was evacuated to safety through the Kindertransport, heartbreakingly having to leave behind his younger sister, Hannah, who was too young to travel.
Debbie shared real artefacts from the museum to help bring Leo’s story to life, and the children explored first-hand testimonies, photographs, propaganda posters, and video accounts to deepen their understanding of how Jewish people were treated in Nazi Germany and the impact of the Kindertransport.
The children participated excellently throughout and learned a lot.
