History in Y5

In our last History lesson on the Kingdom of Benin, Class 12 explored the question of whether Benin’s artwork should be returned. We learned that many valuable pieces were taken by soldiers following the British invasion of Benin in 1897, with a large number of these objects later ending up in British museums.

The class examined arguments from both sides of the debate before taking part in a lively discussion, sharing their thoughts and ideas about this important and complex issue.
