Today, our students put on some antlers and raced around the school grounds, raising an incredible £8,000 (and still counting!) for Rotherham Hospice.
A whopping 450 students took part in the sponsored Reindeer Run, turning the playground into a sea of reindeer and filling the school with holiday cheer. The money raised will help support Rotherham Hospice’s vital care services for local people and their families facing life-limiting illnesses.
The event was a wonderful showcase of our commitment to supporting local charities and promoting Active Citizenship. Our students demonstrated responsibility, compassion, and community spirit – making a real difference while having a fantastic festive time!
Mrs Edmondson, Headteacher at Monkwood Primary School, said: “We are incredibly proud of our students and their families for coming together to support such an important cause. Our Reindeer Run perfectly embodies our Monkwood Pledges, particularly Active Citizenship, as the children show care for others in the community. It’s wonderful to see the whole school community involved in raising funds for Rotherham Hospice while having so much festive fun.”
Helen O’Brien, CEO at Wickersley Partnership Trust, added: “The children at Monkwood Primary School have truly embraced the spirit of giving and community. Their Reindeer Run has raised an incredible amount of money for a worthy cause while demonstrating the values we champion across Wickersley Partnership Trust – compassion, responsibility and active citizenship. We’re so proud to see our young people making such a positive impact in the local community. Well done, Monkwood.”
Thank you to everyone who supported our Reindeer Run, and to all who have donated to this worthy cause.
Well done, everyone!
