Industrial Revolution Studies in Y5

This week in History, Year 5 have been exploring the question: Was the Industrial Revolution popular with everyone?

The children examined a range of primary and secondary sources to learn about the Luddites and the Swing Rioters, who protested when new machinery caused job losses. They analysed the evidence carefully, discussed different viewpoints, and considered how industrial changes affected ordinary workers.

To finish the lesson, the children wrote thoughtful PEE (Point, Evidence, Explain) paragraphs to answer the question. We were extremely impressed with the quality of their historical reasoning and their effective use of evidence. Well done, Y5!
