In English this week, Class 12 have been fully immersed in creative writing, taking inspiration from Philip Pullman’s The Firework-Maker’s Daughter to craft their own stories, entitled The Lantern-Maker’s Daughter.
The pupils have worked exceptionally hard to bring their writing to life, focusing on vivid descriptions of settings, capturing the mood of each scene, and exploring the emotions and motivations of their characters. They have been encouraged to think carefully about language choices, using similes, metaphors, and engaging vocabulary to make their stories as compelling and imaginative as possible.
Throughout the process, the children have shown great creativity and attention to detail, developing their ideas from initial drafts to polished pieces. It has been wonderful to see how each story reflects the unique voice of the writer, and the enthusiasm in the classroom has been contagious!
We have thoroughly enjoyed reading the children’s stories and celebrating their efforts. Their writing demonstrates not only strong technical skills but also a real passion for storytelling. Well done, Class 12!
