Monkwood recently took part in woodland sessions with POP’s Outdoor Education. In Y1, they absolutely loved collecting and using natural materials, in order to make pictures of a variety of seaside objects. They all got involved, and were so creative!
Y5 used their woodland session to learn about horsepower as a part of their work about The Industrial Revolution. The children were able to learn and understand how the use of horsepower helped Britain lead the way in this technological and social revolution.
Working in small teams, the children had to decide how many ‘horses’ would be needed to drive a machine or pull a heavy weight. They enjoyed making predictions, and worked extremely hard to carry out their task.
Well done everyone!
