In History, Class 12 have been learning about how the Industrial Revolution affected our local area of Rotherham and Sheffield. The children explored different pieces of evidence to discover why Sheffield became known as the “Steel City.” They learned how coal mining, steel production, and inventions such as Henry Bessemer’s steelmaking process helped the city grow rapidly.
To deepen their understanding, the class created a cause-and-effect chain to show how these developments led to more jobs, people moving to the area, and a growing population. It was fantastic to see the children making connections between the past and places we still recognise today, such as Magna. Well done, Class 12!
